About Igor

Igor Ardoris holds a degree in education, is a licensed mental trainer, a mindfulness instructor, and the founder of Budo Mental Training, which focuses on mental training for handling difficult situations. I help people learn to lose.

“People often ask me what my role as a mental trainer involves, to which I reply that I assist those I work with in learning how to lose, adding that they can win on their own.”

I firmly believe that one cannot be a worthy winner until they have learned to be a worthy loser. While everyone desires victory and success, life encompasses both light and darkness, valleys and peaks, laughter and tears. Until we learn to lose while maintaining our composure and dignity, facing our cowardice, jealousy, resentment, and insecurity, and still preserving our self-respect, our so-called desire to win will merely be a desperate and anxious struggle to avoid losing. I believe that increased self-awareness is what truly helps people, and my work is about accompanying my clients on their journey, providing support and encouragement as they learn the invaluable lesson of how to lose, and as a result of developed inner security, also to win.

Igor developed an early interest in defence methods and countermeasures against human malevolence, which led to his fascination with Eastern martial arts, where he achieved national elite status in karate.

As both karate and other Asian martial arts are as mental as they are physical, this sparked his interest in a mental defence system, and later, a mental transformation and development system.

When I first met Igor around 20 years ago during a mental training course, I immediately recognised that his personality, experiences from the war-torn Balkans, and his martial arts career, combined with his outlook on life, could enrich the lives of many.

This has indeed happened through his books, training programmes, countless lectures, television shows—where Igor played a significant role in the success of the Class 9A project—and by personally guiding individuals towards a better life. From our very first encounter, I realised the profound support that Igor, along with mental training, would provide.

His deep insights into Eastern philosophy served as an excellent foundation for offering new perspectives and opportunities for growth in mental training.
